TAKESHA LAREUA HARRIS, 38, was killed 01/24/16 at her Carrollton Avenue residence in Killeen, Texas.
A 1995 graduate of Kankakee/Bloom High School, she was a star varsity basketball player.1 She later attended Joliet Junior College before serving four years active duty in the US Army and another four in the Army Reserves.2
Takesha was baptised at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and was employed by UPS and Walmart at the time of her death.
She’s interred at Mound Grove Cemetery in Kankakee, Illinois.3 She was survived by mother Adrienne Harris; father Joe Bell Jr; brothers Deonte Harlan, William and Aron Bell; and sister Melinda Bell.
CRIME SCENE
Around 5:30am her brother arrived to a ransacked house and Takesha lying unresponsive in the hallway. Officers were dispatched and performed CPR; however, they were unable to revive her.
Garland Potvin, Justice of the Peace, arrived on the scene and pronounced Takesha dead at 6:03am.4 An autopsy was ordered to be performed by the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas; however, I could find no published results of their examination.
THEORIES & SUSPICIONS
Authorities believe Takesha was specifically targeted for a home invasion.5
