Kathryn Elaine Jackson

kathryn jackson cold caseKATHRYN ELAINE JACKSON, 32, was found deceased 11/26/84 in her Fort Worth, Texas, residence.1

She was an English teacher at Irma Marsh Middle School in River Oaks, where she taught for three years. Prior to that, she taught at La Plata Junior High School in Hereford for nine years.

Colleagues remember Kathryn as being conscientious, and a perfectionist focussed on ensuring her students were prepared for high school. A former student recalls, “she was real sweet, funny, and truly interested in what was going on with you.”2

She was an active member of Broadway Baptist Church, and often went to dinner and movies with the singles group there.

Kathryn was survived by parents William and Dorothy Jackson, and brother John Jackson. Sadly, her parents and sibling have passed away in the years since, without her killer(s) being brought to justice. She’s interred at Resthaven Cemetery in Brady, Texas.3

kathryn jacksonWhen Kathryn failed to show up at school and didn’t answer the phone, the principal James Pollard went to her apartment to check on her. After convincing the leasing agent to unlock her door, he found her body in the bathtub. She was “tied hand and foot” with a cord looped around her neck, and face down in scalding hot water.2 Pollard reported steam “rolled out” of the door when it was opened.

Police were soon dispatched to Ridgmar Park Apartments, 2001 Aden Road. They surmise she was killed around midnight, likely by someone she knew since her door was locked. Her apartment was orderly, so robbery was ruled out as a motive.4

Cause of death was determined to be ligature strangulation; she was strangled with two men’s ties.

“Her 1979 Camaro was stolen, but recovered in Everman the same day.”5
