HAROLD JONES, 55, was shot 10/06/03 during a home invasion that occured at a friend’s residence in Tyler, Texas. He succumbed to his injuries 10/15/03.
He was a graduate of Sunset High School in Beckville, and served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. At the time of his death he was a truck driver, and a member of Bethel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (CME) in Beckville.1
He was survived by daughter Michelle Jones; parents Matthew and Ever Ruth Jones; and siblings Matthew Jones, Georgia Brown, Barbara Thornton, and Ferrene Tatum. Sadly, his mother passed away without seeing her son’s killers brought to justice.2
CRIME SCENE
Two black males, wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, knocked and gained access to the apartment at 1309 N. Ross Street. The assailants shot Harold with handguns as he sat on his friend’s couch.3 He died in the hospital nine days later.
