CRIME SCENE
On 09/15/88, just after 8am, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Cane River, near Pratt’s Bridge, in response to a body discovered by a passing motorist that saw her from the bridge.2 Around 9:00am detectives and Dr. Charles Cook, Natchitoches Parish Coroner, recovered the body later identified as Rosalind.
An autopsy conducted by Dr. George McCormick, Caddo Parish Coroner, who determined probable cause of death was drowning. He also identified bruising under the skin on the right side of her neck, jaw and temple.
Luther Lee, parish investigator, said “We’re going from an autopsy report that speculates she was in an altercation and we’re centering our interrogation around that assumption, when in actuality the bruising could’ve been caused when she hit the water.” He added they’re treating Rosalind’s death as a homicide, but the absence of a firm cause of death is hindering the investigation.3
Rosalind’s 1985 Buick sedan was discovered shortly after 4pm, abandoned on Breda Street near the Bayou Jacko Club in Natchitoches, six-seven miles from where her body was found.4
