Ivan Kimble Landry cold case homicideOn 08/27/12 the body of Ivan Kemble Landry, 49, was found near some railroad tracks in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Ivan loved bass fishing, cooking his famous gumbo and specialty barbeque, listening to music and watching movies. He was employed at Central Cooling and Heating for 32 years, where he was an expert welder and electrician.1

Ivan is survived by wife Ada, daughters Chantelle George and April Roy, brother Keith Landry, and seven grandchildren.

Crime Scene

The morning of 08/27/12 employees of a refrigeration business found Ivan’s unresponsive body near some railroad tracks (exact location unknown). He’d been shot once in the upper torso, and his wallet and cell phone were missing. Authorities immediately searched the area and recovered a bag of his work tools which was placed into evidence. A canvas of the surrounding area found no witnesses, suspects or other evidence to indicate motive.2

According to his daughter, April Roy, Ivan was last seen by a friend who’s air conditioner he repaired that night. She also shared “although news reports advised that my father was shot in the upper torso, my father had a bullet wound in his head.”3

Prior Offenses

Ivan was arrested for prohibited acts on 04/22/09, bench warrant on 11/12/09, fugitive on 05/26/10 and prohibited acts on 08/27/11.4 5 6 7

Of note is that his body was discovered exactly one year after his 08/27/11 arrest.
