Daniel Gregory Miller
Daniel Gregory Miller was born December 14, 1985, in Jennings, Louisiana, to Joey and Shari Sensat Miller. He had an older brother, Dustin Heath.
A resident of Jennings, he received a large sum of money from his father’s 1987 wrongful death suit. Ironically, his father’s accident occurred while working on a barge in the same river Daniel disappeared in 20 years later. It’s unknown if the ‘inheritance’ played a factor in his disappearance.
Circumstances of Disappearance
On May 2, 2007, Daniel went swimming with three male friends around his age in the Calcasieu River near the Highway 26 West bridge outside Oberlin.
A large-scale search for Daniel by 400-500 rescue and volunteer personnel that included divers, helicopters and cadaver K-9’s was conducted. However, after a week the search was called off.

Description
Daniel was 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighed approximately 240 pounds, and had brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white sleeveless T-shirt and blue knee-length shorts.
Case Summary
They told authorities Daniel had drowned near the bridge. They said they were slightly upriver when they saw him begin struggling in the water. Daniel regained his composure and made it back to the riverbank. About ten minutes later, he was gone.
Daniel was reported missing that afternoon. An around-the-clock search began immediately, involving between 400 and 500 emergency, rescue and volunteer personnel. Divers, helicopters and cadaver K-9 teams were used, but no trace of Daniel was found.
When Daniel’s body did not surface during the following days, the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office began considering whether foul play was involved.
The large-scale search was called off on May 10, 2007, after more than a week. Allen Parish deputies continued checking the river daily after the organized search ended.
Investigators said they were not aware of another suspected drowning in the area in which the body was never eventually recovered.
Daniel’s family believes he may have been murdered and buried rather than drowned. No connection between the money and Daniel’s disappearance has been established.
