Background
Roderick Wayne Collins was 31 and lived at 115 Messer Road in Pineville at the time of his death. He worked for the City of Alexandria Sanitation Department. Additional details of Roderick’s background and family is unknown.
Case Summary
Roderick was last seen on Friday, November 1, 2002, when he left for the Paragon Casino in Marksville. The following day, his vehicle was found burned on Hudson Boulevard, not far from Sugarhouse Road in Alexandria, Louisiana.
After Roderick failed to return home, his girlfriend reported him missing on November 4. Pineville Police Department took the initial missing persons report.
On 12/20/02, over a month and a half after he was last seen, Roderick Wayne Collins’ badly decomposed remains were discovered by a hunter in a wooded area along Sugarhouse Road. A second set of remains was found nearby. The victims were later identified as Roderick and Rebecca Ann Miller, 30. Investigators believe their bodies had been there 5-6 weeks before being discovered.
No relationship between Roderick and Rebecca has been publicly established, and available reports do not explain how the two came to be at the same location.
Roderick’s remains were initially sent to Shreveport for autopsy. Later reporting indicate a forensic anthropologist in Florida also examined them for a more detailed analysis, to determine cause and time of death. He was identified by his distinctive tattoos.
On April 26, 2021, the Alexandria Police Department renewed its appeal for information.
